Our Mission:
We bring art to the Capital Region and beyond, exhibiting the creative process at our live art shows and events, custom commissioned works, guerrilla art events, Open Submission shows, available studio time, and gallery on Lark Street. We are a network of artists ready to create for you.
The Machine Story:
Founded in Summer 2013, The Machine was born from graduates of the arts program at SUNY Albany. We wanted to battle the odds, and pursue careers in the arts. Once we determined that we were meant to create, we just needed the space to do it. Because of the liveliness of Lark Street and the surrounding areas, we felt it would make the perfect location for what we were looking to do, and so we present... The Machine! Once the buzz spread about The Machine, everyone fell in love with the idea. The amount of support we've received is amazing and the best part is that it is just the beginning for us. The Machine received it's name while Dana was listening to "The Machine", by Pink Floyd, and he reflected that every machine requires that all the gears and cogs must work together. Similarly, in The Machine, all of the people work together to foster a thriving artist community!
